Nigerian goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo has completed a move to Wolwalo Adigrat University, a club competing in the Ethiopian Premier League.

Wolwalo has strategically recruited the experienced goalkeeper to strengthen their squad. Having conceded 24 goals this season, coach Tsegaye Kidanemariam believes that bringing in seasoned players like Ojo could be vital for the team’s survival in the league.

After concluding his stint with Sudanese club El-Merreikh, Ojo became available as a free agent and has agreed to a five-month contract with Wolwalo.

“I have high hopes for my time at Wolwalo,” Ojo commented. “Despite receiving offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, I chose Wolwalo because of its professional management.”

“I’m truly excited to be here; it’s an honor to wear the yellow jersey and represent Wolwalo. I am committed to giving my best for the club and its supporters.”

He added, “It’s a pleasure to join such a prestigious club, and I’ve received a warm welcome from everyone since my arrival. The opportunity to work hard in Ethiopia and contribute to Wolwalo’s success is a major motivation for me.”

Ojo brings valuable experience to his new club, having previously played for Nigerian teams including Giwa FC, Sunshine Stars, Abia Warriors, and Enyimba. His consistent performances have established him as a reliable goalkeeper in the region.

Most recently, he was part of Nigeria’s squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up, earning a silver medal.
